While some are celebrating Christmas in July, I am looking forward to the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday.
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that empowers individuals to make donations to important causes on the Tuesday following the shopping frenzies of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Last year, more than $300 million dollars was raised online on #GivingTuesday.* So it is never too early to start thinking about how can you get a piece of that pie.
One step to take is to create a custom giving link specific to #GivingTuesday. This link will be ready to utilize for your #GivingTuesday campaign.
Step One: Create your #GivingTuesday Designation
First, you want to create your #GivingTuesday designation. By creating this designation you will be able to easily track donations that came in for this campaign.
Click on the Designations tab and then click on Add.
Next, fill in the details for your #GivingTuesday designation and click on save.
Step Two: Create your #GivingTuesday Custom Theme
Now, you can go to https://www.givingtuesday.org/ and download one of their #GivingTuesday logos. You can use this logo for the header of your giving link.
Next, in EGS, hover of the gear icon at the upper right-hand corner of the page and then click on Settings. Next click on Theme Settings from the left-hand side menu. Then click on Add, to add your #Giving Tuesday Theme, click on Save.
Next, click to highlight your new #GivingTuesday theme and then click on Global Website settings.
On the next page under the Header Section, uncheck the Use Default box and upload your #GivingTuesday logo. (Take all special characters out of the name of the GivingTuesday logo such as the hashtag). Then click on Save at the bottom of the page.
Step Three: Create your #GivingTuesday Custom Link
Under the Tools tab, click on Create New Link.
On step one, give your link a name, select your GivingTuesday theme, and choose the biggest, bestest, most awesomest form. Then click on Continue.
On step two, click to specify one or more designations, then click on your #GivingTuesday designation and click on select. You will see your designation added to the bottom of the page. Then click on Continue.
On step third, let your donors know that they are a part of a movement! In the custom header text, let your donors know how you are going to put their donation to work! You can also customize the suggested donation amount buttons and choose which amount you would like to form defaulted to. Then click on Continue.
On step four, click on Create Link and then click Continue on the next page.
Now you can click to highlight your link and then click on View Link to see what it looks like.
With this link, you are one step closer to having a successful #GivingTuesday campaign.
